Pius Okaba directed the controversial short film Aye, which premiered at the South African International Film Festival in 2019. The film sees a former bank robber who as a boy was sexually molested by a priest who later raped his mother, and she conceived his younger sister which he never knew existed. The film won Best Short Film at the Africa Diaspora Cinema Festival in Milan Italy. AYE was nominated for various categories at festivals such as Best Short 2019, at I Will Tell International Film Festival, London, United Kingdom, Best Narrative Short - Black Star International Film Festival, Accra Ghana, Best Short - Rapidlion Film Festival, Best Nigerian Film - Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), and In-Short Film Festival in Lagos, Nigeria. Before his move from South Africa to Germany, Pius Okaba played the role of Obafemi on Intersexion 2010, NETFLIX and South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC). He also played Prince Obagbon on MNET’s series, Jacobs Cross. His most recent work includes acting in the most anticipated Czech fairy tail film Princezna Zakletá V Čase (Princess Lost In Time) which is expected to be released in cinemas across Europe in September 2020. Pius Okaba is currently in production of his latest short film to be released early 2021 called EASTSIDE.
